Many of you may get questions from your patrons on searching tutorials (or you might even be looking for these tips yourself!) that aren’t in librarian-speak. Today, the Lifehacker blog links to some great searching tips and a 3-minute video tutorial on “A Beginner’s Guide to Performing Better Web Searches.”
Some of the tips:
- Be as specific, yet as brief, as possible when searching.
- Put quotes around a specific phrase
- Punctuation is ignored — no need for it!
- Capitalization doesn’t matter. Searches aren’t case sensitive.
