Hi, All,
NEKLS is again offering grants to our school library members during the Fall 2022 semester. Applications are open now and will be accepted through 11:59pm on September 7, 2022. (Library staff should apply for the school they will serve during the Fall 2022 semester.)
The Northeast Kansas Library System staff and Executive Board enthusiastically announce a grant program exclusively for NEKLS school library members. We will offer up to $40,000 in needs-based, competitive grants to school libraries that serve any combination of students aged K-12. All applicants must be members of Northeast Kansas Library System.

Feel free to share this information with any colleagues who work at NEKLS member school libraries.
Program Purpose:
This year’s grant program is designed to help school libraries renew and/or expand their print and/or electronic collections during the Fall 2022 semester.
Expected Outcomes:
- Students will have access to updated, diverse collections that support curricular and leisure reading.
- Librarians will report increased circulation and/or interactions with students and/or colleagues.
- Administrators will experience an increased appreciation for the importance of school libraries, librarians and/or library collections.
Individual schools may apply for a lump-sum amount in grant funds, based on school enrollment. Several schools per district may be awarded grant funds. Consideration will be given to NEKLS member schools that have not received grant funds within the past five years, though all members are encouraged to apply.
Spring Semester 2022 school enrollment = grant amount
up to 500 students = $1,000
501 to 1500 students = $2,500
1501 or more students = $4,000
